Students can engage with content at their own pace within set deadlines and communicate with instructors and peers through discussion forums and emails.

What technology do I need for online classes? You will need a computer, laptop, Chromebook, or Dynabook with internet access and basic web browsing capability. Access to Google Apps with a working email address will be essential for completing assignments and projects and communicating with instructors.

How do I register for one of PR2TA’s online courses? If you attend a public or private high school, your school counselor will submit an online registration through PR2TA’s Online CTE Program.

How does communication occur between teachers, students, and classmates in an online setting? Communication in an online setting will utilize various methods. Teachers primarily communicate within Schoology through tutorial videos, assignments, and written feedback left in the comments section on the grades tab. Communication will occur via email, and students need to contact their instructor with any questions or concerns. Students should also remember to check their email daily for important updates and announcements.

How can I stay organized in an online learning environment? Staying organized in an online learning environment involves several steps. Firstly, utilize Schoology's calendar page to keep track of due dates for assignments and assessments. Additionally, ensure to log in daily to check for important updates and reminders. By consistently logging in and keeping track of due dates in Schoology, you'll effectively stay on top of your coursework and manage your time efficiently.

What should I do if I’m struggling with online learning? If you find yourself struggling with online learning, it's essential to take advantage of available support resources within Schoology. Many students who face difficulties overlook valuable resources, such as pre-recorded tutorial videos and academic support materials. Online learning can pose challenges, but your teachers are here to assist you. However, it's important to note that students may often not ask for help, and instructors may not immediately realize when students need assistance online. Therefore, it is essential to communicate, communicate, communicate!

How do I get help if I have technical or academic issues? For technical or academic problems, your first step would be to email your instructor directly. Additionally, consult the online resources available in the Course Information folder on Schoology. Active class participation is crucial to staying on track with instruction. If you require further assistance, don't hesitate to contact your instructor and request a virtual meeting. Instructors are happy to meet virtually to provide additional support.

How do I stay motivated and engaged in an online course? To maintain engagement and motivation in online classes, set personal goals and establish a structured routine for studying and attending virtual sessions. Actively participate in class discussions, complete assignments on time, and seek opportunities to collaborate with classmates. Additionally, take breaks when needed and find ways to connect with peers virtually to build a sense of community and support. Remember to celebrate your achievements and progress along the way to stay motivated.

Is there a fee to enroll in PR2TA’s Online CTE courses? No, CTE classes are provided free of charge to eligible students. However, specific programs might have additional expenses, including required testing, industry certifications, class projects, or participation in CTSO events. Students may also be eligible to use Advanced Opportunities funding to cover some of these costs.

Can I earn a CTE/Workforce Readiness Diploma? Yes, CTE programs are designed to ensure graduates obtain the academic and technical skills that give students multiple pathways to success. CTE programs enhance students’ high school experience and help prepare them for the demands of today’s employers. A Workforce Readiness and Career Technical Education (CTE) Diploma can be awarded to students who:

ʉۢ Complete all graduation requirements required within their district

ʉۢ Complete a CTE pathway that culminates with a capstone course as a junior or senior

ʉۢ Pass a technical skills assessment (TSA)

ʉۢ Pass a workplace readiness assessment (WRA)

• Demonstrate competency in CTE program standards by earning all SkillStack® micro certifications for their pathway or an approved industry certification.

Computer Applications                              Offered: Fall & Spring

Grade Level: 9 - 12   CTE Code: 120010

Course Length: 1 Semester (Repeatable)                         Credit & Type: CTE Elective

Prerequisites: None


This course is designed to develop students’ computer skills for personal and career use.  Microsoft Office applications will be introduced and used to solve business problems. Topics will include using word processing software for creating basic business documents that utilize industry standards, presentation software to create effective presentations, and spreadsheet software for storing data and solving mathematically based problems. Students will also learn technology terminology, Internet search techniques, and file management skills.  Students will have an opportunity to earn Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certifications in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. *There may be a dual credit option for this course through CWI. 


Business Communications                      Offered: Fall & Spring

This course equips students with essential skills for effective communication in a professional setting. Covering everything from writing professional emails and letters to delivering engaging presentations, this course combines lessons and real-world practice. Students will learn the importance of clear communication, how to think critically and tailor their messages for different people. This course is ideal for individuals looking to improve their speaking and writing skills for a future in business. This course is designed to help students develop money management skills that will help them to make smart financial decisions in life. Students will understand how to budget and the cost of borrowing money.  Importance will be placed on making informed decisions when saving, investing, and planning retirement so that students can start on the path to a successful financial future.  Students will also learn about identity protection and ensuring that their belongings and assets are protected through different types of insurance. This course is designed for students interested in learning how to manage their money now and in the future. This course meets the state requirements for Personal Finance. *There may be a dual credit option for this course through NNU.


Business Economics                 Offered: Fall & Spring

Economics is an introductory course emphasizing the basic principles of different types of world economic systems.  This course addresses the nature and methods of economic problem-solving by helping students to understand different types of markets.  Topics include how basic needs and wants meet consumer demand to purchase goods and services by using resources and creating capital to satisfy supply and demand.  Students will learn about equilibrium, surplus, shortage, business cycles, economic indicators, and international trade during this course. This course meets the social studies graduation requirement for economics. This course meets social studies standards and requirements for graduation. *There may be a dual credit option for this course through NNU.


Business Administration (Capstone)   Offered: Spring

Business Administration is a capstone course that focuses on how to run a business. It's meant for students who already know the basics of business and want to learn more about how to manage everything a business needs. In this course, students will learn about leading a team, making plans, marketing, running day-to-day operations, managing people, and keeping track of money. This course benefits students who want to start a business, become a manager, or work in any business role. Students will come out of this course knowing what it takes to keep a business running smoothly. *Students may have an opportunity to earn a CTE diploma after completion of this course.

This class empowers you to become a creator of the technology seen all around you. Computer Science engages students in collaborative projects that help them develop in-demand computer science knowledge and transportable skills like creative thinking and communication. Whether creating an online art gallery or using automation to process and analyze DNA-sequence data, Computer Science students are seeing how their learning connects to the real world.  *There may be a dual credit option for this course through CWI.
